Important Study Abroad Updates

March 2nd, 2020

Dear Prospective and Current Edmonds College Study Abroad participants,

A few days ago, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control issued a statement recommending that Institutions of Higher Education “consider postponing or canceling student foreign exchange programs” and “consider asking current program participants to return to their home country.” Our study abroad office at Edmonds College is continually reviewing this new information and will support our partner institutions in their decisions related to these guidelines.

As of this writing, Edmonds College has suspended only programs in China, based on CDC and U.S. State Department elevated travel advisories related to COVID-19 (coronavirus). After careful consideration, and in the absence of any specific change in conditions in the other eight countries in which we offer programs, we will continue to offer programs as planned.

Student health and safety remain our very highest priority, and Edmonds College has successfully supported students for over 25 years through numerous events of concern.

Here is Edmonds College’s key information about COVID-19, including prevention guidelines. Our study abroad-based decisions are based on a combination of strategic decisions for student safety in line with the WHO and CDC updates.

Please do not hesitate to email us at with any questions or concerns.

You can expect to hear from us as new updates are made, and we encourage you to practice the health measures advised.

Stay informed. Stay healthy!
