Writing Help

Want to make sure your essay's organization makes sense? Need help with your quotations and citations? eTutoring is the place for you this quarter! While all of our tutoring operations are online-only for Spring Quarter 2020, any help you want to receive with papers and other writing assignments, you should submit to eTutoring.

When you sign in to eTutoring, click on the Online Writing Lab to submit your paper draft. Pay attention to the expected wait time--eTutoring responses typically take between 24-48 hours to receive, though sometimes they are much less and sometimes they are a bit more; for most of this quarter the response time has been under 12 hours. It's a good idea to plan ahead and submit a draft well before it is due to your teacher so that you can incorporate the feedback your tutor gives you.

When your paper has been responded to by an eTutor, you will receive an email to your Edmail telling you that the response is ready and that you must log back into eTutoring to see the response. Please check your Edmail regularly to make sure you see this email!

Almost all of our in-person writing tutors are now working to give students tutoring help using eTutoring--you may receive responses from names you recognize! No matter who responds to your paper, though, you will receive a thorough written response from a tutor, highlighting strengths of your paper, making a list of next steps to take, and providing suggestions and things to think about as you revise.

See a brief photo-tutorial about how to access the Writing Lab and view a tutor's response to your paper.

Other Subjects

eTutoring is not only for writing support! You can also get live-chat tutoring help for subjects like math, accounting, computer science, and more. We do ask that you mainly use Ask a Tutor this quarter for subjects other than writing, but you should feel free to continue to use eTutoring for non-writing related homework, as well.
